The sounds of beautiful opera can be heard through the grounds of the Gunnedah Kennel Club next Saturday, when Stopera will perform at Annual Porchetta Day.

A new addition to the festival, Stopera features the skills of a telanted ensemble of Australian artists that includes instrumental and vocal musicians, directors, conductors, dancers and actors.

With Rebecca Collins as Soprano and Vivienne Winther on piano, the duo will perform arias from operas by Puccini such as La Boheme and popular Italian songs like O Sole Mio.

Rebecca has appeared in principal roles for Opera Queensland, Opera Australia and OzOpera and is well known to ACT audiences for her lead roles in Stopera’s Australian premieres of Jane Eyre and Nigredo Hotel.¬†

She has also performed at such international festivals like the Colorado Music Festival and with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

Vivienne is artistic director of Stopera and has played a leading role in the production and performance of award-winning opera and concert events for the company since 1997.

She has appeared in concert for the National Gallery of Australia and Canberra International Music Festival as well as accompanied and coached singers from Opera Australia, Victorian State Opera and Beijing Central Opera and Cologne Opera. 

Stopera is sure to be a hit at Annual Porchetta Day, given the company’s ¬†national and international critical acclaim for its small-scale opera presentation.
